On my way...
...up tomorrow at 4:30am to fly to SoCal. Long travel for a long run. Sunday is my first Marathon. Huntington Beach should be a great place to run my first. Surf City Marathon is the name. 18,000 people. Should be crazy.

Still sick
Another slow three miles just trying to get rid of this dang head cold. I'm trying not to make it worse, so I'm taking it easy. On the treadmill with Nike Air Max Moto 6s. 12:51 pace.
My first Marathon is this Sunday. I hope this sick week doesn't hurt my energy level and conditioning. Time will tell.

Yoga today
Now that I'm tapering, my legs felt well enough to do some serious yoga. Today I went back to Laura's "power yoga" class for some crazy stretching!

Another slow, sick three miles
Pacing myself trying to finish out this head cold and not get sicker before this Sunday's Huntington Beach Marathon, I ran another three miles on my treadmill. Nike Marathoners, 11:36 pace.

500 miles on Nike +
The last three miles to make 500 were slow and somewhat sickly, but I made it. Ran another three miles on my treadmill at a 12:08 pace just to make the 500. Shoes: Nike Marathoners.
I hope this cold doesn't impact my energy for next Sunday's Marathon.

Feeling better 2 miler, sort of
After being sick for a couple days, I ran a short, slow 2 miles on my treadmill. Only 12:06 pace and felt a little dizzy. Good news is the break made my legs feel very rested. Good feeling! Shoes: Nike Marathoner.

Hilly ten mile run

Another 5 miles @ South Reno Athletic Club
Slow first mile, quicker second and then busted out some 7 min mile sprints until the last mile cool-down. Felt good, felt fast. Nike Marathoners. 10:09 pace overall. And only 19 miles to go!

Half Marathon while tapering
Nice little 13.1 miles on my way towards the February 1st Marathon. Sure felt nice after 24.5, 20 and 18 miles the last three weekends. Ran in my Lunaracers. Legs felt good. 10:55 pace.

Nike Run Club, part 2
Now I've run with the Nike Run Club in Chicago and San Diego. Not quite the same experience, maybe 10 people in San Diego compared to Chicago's 50. But fun regardless. We all ran three miles in the dark (6pm start time). Used my Nike Air Max Moto 6s. I did get a serious tightening in my right calf and upper Achilles tendon. Not sure if that was from swelling after my flight or signs of something more serious to come. I'll rest Thursday and ice for a couple days.

Heading to San Diego
I'm in San Jose, California waiting for my next flight to San Diego. Tonight I hope to join the San Diego Nike store's weekly run club. I happened upon the Chicago version of run club last fall, right before the Chicago Marathon, and ran 7 miles. This time, with some advanced planning, I found that the San Diego store does the same thing. I'll try not to spend too much money. I'll probably only attempt 3 miles. I'm still worn from the 24.5 miles last Sunday.

I'm spent!
24.5 miles. My new longest run to date. This is my longest run prior to tapering for the Huntington Beach Marathon. I started out slow to conserve energy and ended with a slow pace with worn out knees and ankles. Oh well.
Regardless, this was one long, fulfilling run. I'm tired, but proud to finish the longest run. The after-run massage was nice too. Now I get to run less! Tapering is awesome!
11:11 pace in the Nike Air Max Moto 6s.

New Year run
I thought it would be appropriate to start a year full of running goals with an actual run. I ran a leisurely 5 miles (10:43 pace) around the streets in my area. I'm still nursing a bum toenail on my right big toe, so I continue to take it easy. I took my new Nike Max Air Moto 6s for their first run. Stopped for a Vitamin Water too. Good times.
